The 2008 AFM Rulebook is available for download
(download here).
Look to the AFM News & Updates section of this web site or to the printed newsletters
for any updates, clarifications or changes to these rules as the season goes
on (although mid-season rule changes are extremely rare). If you have any questions
or need clarification,

or
call the AFM.
Please note the AFM requires that you have a medical insurance policy before
you will be issued a competition license and/or compete in any AFM event.
The principal contents of the rulebook are provided in the following web
pages. The arrangement of the content differs just slightly from the original
printed version.
All rights and privileges to the use and/or reproduction of the AFM Rulebook
are held by AFM Inc.; no one may distribute, sell, reproduce, modify, or otherwise
use all or part of the AFM rulebook without prior consent of the AFM Inc.
Board of Directors.
The technical requirements for motorcycles contained in the rulebook are
not to be regarded as all inclusive relative to safe race preparation.
It is the responsibility of the rider to make sure his/her motorcycle is
prepared in a safe, workmanlike manner.
If you have any questions or need clarification of any parts of these rules,
don't hesitate to call or e-mail the AFM. It is far better to ask and be
clear on something and act accordingly than to be unsure or make possibly
incorrect assumptions and find out later that you are not legal.
Vendors with advertisements or announcements in any rulebook, newsletter
and/or raceday program should not be interpreted as an endorsement by AFM.
The American Federation of Motorcyclists, Inc., (AFM), a not-for-profit
California Corporation, began in 1954 as a handful of enthusiasts and has
grown to around 800 competition members and >1100 total members (racers,
associates & course workers).
Overall control of the AFM rests with the Board of Directors of AFM, Inc.,
elected by you, the membership. Race promotion and local matters are normally
handled by two chapters, one in the San Francisco Bay Area, and one currently
inactive chapter somewhere down south. Chapter meetings are held monthly in
the Northern Chapter. Watch the AFM Newsletter or call the AFM for meeting
day and time.
