    vintage 0-250 class

    littleguy » Tue May 30, 2006 4:49 pm

hello, i'd like to start racing vintage 0-250 class,
and was wondering if someone had any pointers
on where to start. instantly i'm thinking "buy the
next cb160 you can find" but before i get hasty...

i have so many questions, and will prolly give the
formula vintage coordinator a call, but i'd love input
    from anyone running vintage classes.

whats on my mind no particular order:
    1. does adding a faring, using a fiberglass vintage
gp seat, and fiberglass long tank considered
    "period modifications"?
    2. how much frame modification is allowed?
    3. can i just look at old pictures of actual racers of
the 60s and figure out what was a "period mod"?

    thanks :]

    Hey Kris,

Did you ever get a 160 and go racing? It looks as though I will probably be doing at least a race or two with AFM next season and sure would like the company!

If you're still looking for a bike, I have another 160 racer that will be available soon. Get in touch!

You need to do riders school, have health insurance, leather suit, gloves and helmet, and a race bike. It's a little bit of work to get started, but once you're rolling there is nothing better and the vintage racers are the nicest people! You will have a lot of fun.

Looks like there will be a bunch of people racing CB160s this year. We have about 10 potential racers for the May 24th event, some from LA. We had a little CB160 scheming meeting last weekend, to revive the vintage racing class in the AFM, and it looks like a few more people are going to commit to it.

If anybody wants to race vintage, please email and I can help with questions on parts, prep etc or can refer you to somebody else that can help with specifics.

Here is the list of people that have bikes and will race

    1. Mike Riddle - 160
    > 2. Mike Polkabla - 160
    > 3. Craig Haggart - 160
    > 4. Anne Stark - 160
    > 5. Dave Stark - 160
    > 6. Paul Turek - 160
    > 7. Jennifer Bromme - 160
    > 8. Jim Hoogerhyde - Montessa / 160
    > 9. Brian Filo - Yammie
    > 10. Dave Crussell - Kawi

I'm picking up my CB160 race bike tonight, and will be at the track this weekend, so Kris, you should come to the track if you don't have a bike yet and figure things out.

    Cheers, Jennifer
